A few minutes back we published a post on how to install official XXLPQ ICS Firmware on Samsung Galaxy S2. After installing the official Ice Cream Sandwich Firmware on Samsung Galaxy S2, you might not like some apps which Samsung includes in the firmware. Hence to remove bloatware, rooting your device is required. You can also convert downloaded apps into system apps, install apps to save battery and a lot more can be done with rooting. In this tutorial we will tell you how to root Samsung Galaxy S2 on XXLPQ firmware. Please note that rooting your device will void the warranty of your device. Also make sure you have proper backup before you proceed with the rooting process.
Prerequisites
- Backup all your applications using ASTRO File Manager.
- Back up all contacts to SD Card.
- Make sure you have KIES installed.
- Disable Anti virus and other security apps
- Enable USB Debugging by Settings>Applications>Development and ensure that USB Debugging is checked.
Steps to Root Samsung Galaxy S2 on Official ICS XXLPQ Firmware
- Download XXLPQ Rooting Package.
- After this open Odin which you can download from here.
- Boot your phone into Download Mode. To do this, press the Volume Down button and Center button. While you press both, simultaneously pres the power button and your phone will enter into download mode.
- Connect your phone to the PC via USB. When you do this the ID:Com section on Odin must turn yellow. If it doesn’t don’t proceed to the next step.
- Click PDA and select CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-v5.3-CWM5 from the downloaded contents of the zip file.
- Click on Start. Wait for a few moments and the device will reboot on success.
