Yesterday, we gave you a post about how to install XXLPJ Ice Cream Sandwich Firmware on Samsung Galaxy S2 which was not an official firmware and it was a custom ROM from Sammobile. Also, we informed you about the official Ice Cream Sandwich Update being released in Korea and other European countries. This new official firmware is known as the XXLPQ and in this post we will tell you how to install XXLPQ ICS Firmware on Samsung Galaxy S2. This is the official firmware and hence free of bugs
, most stable and perhaps the best of all the previous firmwares. Please note that this firmware can be applied only to Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 and not on any other variants of Samsung Galaxy S2.
After you back up everything, you can proceed with the steps to install this firmware.
Steps to Install Official Ice Cream Sandwich Firmware on Samsung Galaxy S2 – XXLPQ

Prerequisites
- Backup all your applications using ASTRO File Manager . If you have rooted your Samsung Galaxy S2 , you can use Titanium Backup for the same.
- Back up all contacts to SD Card.
- Make sure you have KIES installed.
- Disable Anti virus and other security apps
- Enable USB Debugging by Settings>Applications>Development and ensure that USB Debugging is checked.
After you back up everything, you can proceed with the steps to install this firmware.
Steps to Install Official Ice Cream Sandwich Firmware on Samsung Galaxy S2 – XXLPQ
- Download Official XXLPQ Firmware | Hotfile Link.
- Download Odin if you don’t have one.
- Extract the files to a separate folder in your PC.
- Turn off your phone
- Boot into Download mode. To dot this, press the Volume Down button and Center button. While you press both, simultaneously press the Power button.
- Open Odin
- Connect your phone to the PC via USB. When you do this, the ID:Com in Odin must turn yellow. If it doesn’t don’t proceed to the next step.
- Go to “Settings > Wireless & Network > USB Settings” and ensure that “Samsung KIES” option is ticked.
- Connect your phone to the PC via USB Cable
- In Odin, click on PDA and select the file I9100XXLPQ_I9100OXALPQ_I9100XXLPQ_HOME.tar.md5
- Click on Start.
- After the update is finished, remove the battery and re-insert it.
- Boot into recovery mode. To do this, press the Volume Down Button + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button.
- In recovery mode, wipe all data/factory reset and wip cache partition.
- Go back and select “Reboot system now”.
